Dear RC Families,                                                                                                   “Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness.”                                                                                                                          Desmond Tutu

Can you believe we are now in the eighth week of Remote Learning? School in the building ended abruptly for all, but the staff immediately evoked a learner’s stance and delved in (and continue to) professional development training to understand the technology tools needed to execute quality lessons in a remote manner.

Google Suite is the main platform that is being used during this time. Google Classroom is where teaching and learning take place and the live teaching is done via Google Meet. Fortunately, Zoom is now secured so some gathering might be hosted via Zoom, depending on the teacher.

All staff members are striving to keep in touch with you to make certain that you are aware of what’s happening in your child’s class. However, if you are not in communication with your child’s teacher, please contact the Parent Coordinator, Jesse Gadson at JGadson3@schools.nyc.gov. He will respond to ensure that you liaison better with the teacher(s).

Do know that school is not closed – school is in session remotely. Therefore, students are expected to engage in posted assignments, as well as participate in the live lessons via Google Meet when invited. Students are being assessed to determine their understanding of taught content; therefore, the youngsters must engage in the learning activities. Please encourage your child to maintain the pace of posted assignments as much as possible, but if your child falls behind for any reason, do not give up – just excite him/her to keep going. Although we are living in this dark and cheerless time, I am extremely proud of the engagement of families. Parents are trying their absolute best to collaborate with the school to guarantee that their children are learning, even though this is being done from home. For this I say thank you! Thank you for answering our calls, responding to texts, reading and replying to Class DoJo messages, and guiding your child to enable connection to Google Meet. You are appreciated for all that you are doing to maintain our partnership.

We are living in a time that we have never experienced before, but do know………                                                  THIS TOO SHALL PASS

I look forward to seeing you face to face in the near future.

Respectfully Yours,                                                                                                 Maxine Cameron
